Accolade, as Kehinde Oisemaye Mounts Presidential Throne of Osubi Rotary Club

Last Saturday will ever be in the memory of Rotarian Kehinde Omo Oisemaye, his family and close associates. It will be a day other Rotarians in Delta State and other parts of the country who attend the epoch event will ever wish it is repeated. Curious readers may want to know why it was peculiar for him and others?

The day was peculiar to Oisemayes, other Rotarians and guests because this was the occasion of his investiture and installation as the 4th President of Rotary Club of Osubi,Delta State. Osubi is a community hosting an airport that is a stone throw away from the popular oil city of Warri, Delta state. Rotarians from all walks of live both in Nigeria and diaspora were present as part of the installation ceremony
The venue of the epoch event which is the conference Centre of the Petroleum Training Institute, Effurun, Warri was a centre of attraction due to the colourful interior and exterior decoration. Rotary being lovers of colours, displayed the love they have for colour combinations to the admiration of members and guests present. Both external and internal decoration was in a unique class of its own.

Beside, the event could be mistaken for fashion parade as Rotarians and guests stepped into the event with different kind of designer clothes ranging from Yoruba agbada and sokoto for men, and Iro and buba for women. Urhobo attire of expensive colourful george wrapper in combination of long top shirt to match was on display by men, while designer Italian, French and English suits were also on display.

What a day to remember as members of Rotary Club before the installation Oisemaye filled the air with a song titled, “The Helping Hand” where all members joined by guests moved around the hall shaking hands with fellow members and non members while the song continues. It was quite interesting. After the event, I guest many non members will signal their interest of belonging to the noble Rotary Club.

Rotary is an organization of business and professional leaders who are united worldwide with the sole objectives of providing humanitarian services, encourage high ethical standards in all vacation and help build goodwill and peace in the world. Rotarians are spread more than 160 countries worldwide with approximately 1.2million Rotarians belonging to more than 30,000 Rotary clubs.

The objective of Rotary is service is spread in communities and throughout the world. Rotarians are known for building goodwill and peace, provide humanitarian service and encourage high ethical standard in all vocations. The Rotary motto is “Service Above Self’. The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International was created in 1917 for the purpose of doing good in the world.

Going through the profile of Rotarian Kahinde Omo Oisemaye there is no doubt that he deserve the position of the President of Rotary Club Osubi. Oisemaye who is a graduate of University of Benin and Chairman of University of Alumni Association, Warri Chapter, has several honours bestowed on him.
He is the best student of Science in 1990, best student in Chemistry in 1990, Fellow of Chemical Society of Nigeria, and chartered member of the Rotary Club of Osubi among others.

Before now, Oisemaye popularly known as Kenny has attended several Rotary workshops, seminars, training within the District and beyond. He has served in various club and District committees as Sergeant of Arm, Chair of International Service Committee, Member Disciplinary Committee, President Elect, Chair President Installation Committee and member DG Installation Accomodation Sub-Committee among others.

Speaking on behalf of the Osubi Rotary Executive Committee after installation as the President Rotary Osubi, Delta State, Oisemaye who is married to Rotarian Ann Clara and blessed with three children disclosed that they have started the year on a good note by participating in various seminars organized at the district levels thereby equipping them for the task ahead.
He pointed out that Rotary of Osubi has aptly keyed into the business of engaging Rotary and has also submitted fully to changing lives positively through community oriented projects and activities, adding that their club as young as it is has done more than what could be seen and reckon with and acknowledged.

“For example, we have provided borehole water at Government General Hospital Orerokpe and Osubi abortoir, dictionaries through partnership of Rotary Club of Wellington North West Carolina to secondary schools, toilet facilities and water to the ante-natal unit of Government General Hospital, Agbarho and also participated in environmental sanitation and clean up within Uvwie LGA among others,” he disclosed.

He described Rotary Club as a good club with a government that is model, time tested and world class in nature and vision. He urged government at all level to emulate Rotary Club for the good of all and sundary.
“When it comes to administration, with all sense of humility, Rotary is exemplary . As I stand here today, I know my success in office and I know that he is putting together all his team, “he noted.
He disclosed that for the furtherance of Rotary’s idea of service to humanity, they intend to continue with their service to humanity through monthly participation in environmental clean up to ensure a clean and disease free environment, provide water facilities to selected primary and secondary schools and provision of students’ and teachers’ chairs and desks in selected secondary schools among others.
