LAGOS FEBRUARY 9TH (URHOBOTODAY)-United States of America based social critics and Founder of Non-Governmental Organisation, Delta Women, Elsie Halima Ijorogu-Reed has accused member of Delta State House of Assembly representing Okpe Constituency, Hon Sheriff Oborevwori for non performance since he became a lawmaker representing Okpe constituency.
Reed, who doubled as a human right activist and a publisher observed in a post on her facebook page that it has been eight months since Sheriff Oborevwori assumed office as member representing Okpe constituency, but the lawmaker had nothing to show for it in term of development in Okpe community or solid representation of Okpe people in Deta State House of Assembly.
She argued that before the 2016 budget was passed, one would have expected Oborevwori to have carried out a need assessments in with the grassroots in Okpe constituency so that he could present their issues to the House,
Reed who claimed Oborevwori has not passed a single Bill since he was elected to represent Okpe people in the House said, “Sadly, all the meetings he has had are with his party faithful, PDP leaders and members.”
According to her, “For those who may not understand, we have three years and four months left, so if we include next election it means we have approximately 3yrs left. So what has Sherriff been doing in the house since June? Is he there just to attend social events or to serve all Okpe and not just party faithfuls?
“What is even more annoying is what his aides placed online pictures or post of his social events. Though it is understandable as a legislator to attend social events, however, he can’t even claim to have sponsored a single bill in the house.”
Frowning at excuses of legal battle as responsible for his non performance, Reed who described such claim as ‘flimsy’ excuse argued that if Oborevwori claimed his legal battle is responsible for his poor performance it means he did not work for money he earned in the period and as such be returned.
