Supreme Court Victory: Okowa Demands Apologise From Ogboru, O’tega to Deltans For Frivolous Litigation
LAGOS FEBRUARY 3RD (URHOBOTODAY)-Governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa has called on Chief O’tega Emerhor of APC and his counterparts of Labour Party, Chief Great Ogboru to apologise to Deltans for distracting them with legal battles they knew were not justifiable.
Okowa who made the appeal while speaking to newsmen after the Supreme Court decision in upholding his victory as Governor of Delta State while in the company of his wife, the former Secretary to the State Government Ovuozourie Macaulay, and other top government functionaries dedicated his victory to God.
According to the Governor, both Emerhor and Ogboru knew they did not win the elections, nonetheless, the two politicians decided to take their appeals to the Elections Petition Tribunal, to the Court of Appeal, and then to the Supreme Court, subjecting Deltans to needless frustration.
“It is time to forgive and move on, I also believe that my opponents, Mr. O’tega and Mr. Ogboru, should apologise to all Deltans, because, they knew the people’s choice but, they just wanted to go through this legal process,” he said.
“I have forgiven them but, I think they need to apologise to Deltans because, they distracted the people,” Mr. Okowa stated.
The Justices of the Supreme Court, in a unanimous decision, described the appeal against Mr. Okowa as an abuse of the court process. The declared that they would elaborate on the reason for their judgement on Monday ,February 15, 2016.
