Redeemed Church Launches Dialysis Centre, Dental Unit, Re-Opens Charity Shop
LAGOS SEPTEMBER 3RD (URHOBOTODAY) – The Redeemed Christian Church of God, City of David, Lagos is set to launch the Dialysis Centre [picture above] and the Dental Unit of her hospital,
Healing Stripes Hospital, as well as reopen its popular Charity Shop.
The Dialysis Centre and Dental Unit are part of the Healing Stripes Hosptial, one of the expert health care facilities in Lagos, Nigeria, which was established in 2010 by the City of David Parish of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (COD RCCG) as part of its Christian
Social Reform; to spread health and cheer in its community and ensure that quality health care is accessible, affordable and reliable.
The Dialysis Centre which is adding more machines for its operations was opened in September 2013 out of the need to contribute a quota to the treatment of patients with kidney disease.
It is worthy of note that 30 million Nigerians are suffering from kidney disease, with only 200 machines available to cater to them, instead of the 12,000 machines that are needed. The urge to fill this vacuum is what motivated the expansion of the dialysis centre with new machines.
Up till date, the dialysis centre has done, 2,092 subsidized dialysis sessions and 102 free sessions till date. Partnering with some hospitals in India, the dialysis centre has also successfully conducted 5 kidney transplants.
The launch will also feature free liver screening, free dental consultation as well as tele consultation with the team from the Global Hospital Mumbai India, a partner of the healing stripes hospital.
To further show its Christian social reform, the church is also reopening its Charity Shop named “It’s New to Me”, which was officially launched on the June 11, 2009 and is located at House 3, Prince Alaba Oniru Estate Victoria Island opposite Four points.
“It’s New to Me” is focused on the sales of new and fairly used quality, designer clothes, household items, toys, children’s wears, furniture, cars and other quality items including wedding gowns, which is sold at a fraction of its original price to the public.
The shop was closed for renovation and expansion in March, 2015, tore open on Sunday, 6th September, 2015.
“I am very excited that we are reopening our Charity Shop, ‘It’s New to Me’. We embarked on the renovation and expansion to better serve the society and I am glad to see the work completed and the shop is being reopened,” said Pastor Idowu Iluyomade, Senior Pastor of RCCG, City of David.
“I am equally excited at how God is helping us to add new machines to our already existing dialysis centre as well as the dedication of the dental unit of the Healing Stripes Hospital. The Christian Social “Reforms is at the heart of what we stand for as a Church, and the Healing Stripes Hospital grants us the avenue to show our love and care for mankind, thus we will always expand its scope of operations.
“It is worthy to note that preceding this formal launch, the dialysis centre has treated 2,092 at subsidized rates.
“I’ll also like to mention that in line with our social reform mandate, The Arise Medical Impact, an NGO under the leadership of Pastor Siju Iluyomade has reached out to more than 26, 128 individuals in various communities through their free medical care and outreaches.” He concluded.
City of David is a parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), founded in 1996. The church has a vision of exceeding greatness and this has seen the church grow in leaps and bounds with signs and wonders following. The church currently runs two services, the Sunrise and Sunshine services, having over 5,000 worshipers.
