LAGOS FEBRUARY 18TH (URHOBOTODAY)-Otega4Governor Campaign Organization has swiftly reacted to a press statement by one Mr. Rex Anighoro purported to be speaking for the entire Urhobo Youth through a group he called “Coalition of Urhobo Nation Youth Leaders and Stakeholders” (CUNYLS), in which he issued a seven day ultimatum on APC Vice Presidential Candidate, Prof Yemi Osibanjo to disassociate himself from the Chief Tuesday Onoge faction of the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU).
A statement by the Director of Media and Political Communication, Dr. Fred Oghenesivbe described the ultimatum as an irresponsible behavior from a young man known in the past to be forthright, intelligent and extremely
unbiased in the articulation of both local and national political issues.
He asserted that Anighoro is fully aware that the Uvwiamuge Declaration document does not have room for the Labour Party (LP), rather it was an offer to the two national parties; the APC and the PDP for which APC
accepted the UPU offer and gave Urhobo land the gubernatorial candidate in the person of Olorogun O’tega Emerhor.
The Delta APC Campaign mouthpiece said that if Anighoro , UPU and Chief Omene were sure that LP was part of the bargain ab-initio and did wanted Chief Great Ogboru of the Labour Party to fly the urhobo flag during the
elections, they ought to have presented him (Ogboru) the very first time they struck a deal with Governor Uduaghan and the PDP, adding that if David Edevwie had won the PDP primary, then of course Chief Ogboru would have
been left in cold to nurse his absolute rejection by the UPU, Chief Omene and Anighoro’s group.
He described Anighoro as one of the best brains in the Youth arm of the defunct Chief Omene led UPU in Urhobo land and as such should not meddle into the disgusting realm of political controversies that will destroy his
reputation as a rising star in youth political activism in Urhobo land in particular and Nigeria in general, pointing out that, Anighoro and his contracted group lack the moral and legal justification to issue such
ultimatum on APC Vice Presidential candidate and a seasoned Professor of
Law.
Dr Oghenesivbe further alleged that Anighoro has been bribed to a large extent from the proceeds of Chief Joe Omene’s visit to the Villa earlier in the year which is why he made a sudden u-turn from the part of justice and
good conscience to compromise his dignity and sincerity, adding that Urhobo Youth can neither be forced nor coerced into accepting Chief Great Ogboru of the Labour Party (LP) who could not win three straight governorship
elections plus a re-run.
He said Anighoro during the UPU Youth Interaction with Governorship candidates which APC Olorogun Emerhor attended (Ogboru absent) told the huge crowd that the Urhobo Nation was no longer interested in doing business with PDP for failing to give Urhobo a gubernatorial candidate, adding that Anighoro’s utterances and declarations at the event are on tapes, both visuals and audio.
The APC Campaign Media Director further explained that Anighoro’s statement published in today’s Vanguard (February 18, 2015) is strongly worded such that can snowball into a fierce war between Youth of the two factions of
the UPU, if something urgent is not done to revert the said malicious publication, noting that Anighoro, Chief Omene and the said Coalition of Urhobo Nation Youth Leader and Stakeholders should be held responsible for any militia outbursts in urhobo land during the forth coming general elections.
Oghenesivbe said the sixteen years of PDP misrule in Nigeria and in Delta State is the reason why the people are yearning for change, pointing out that there is little or nothing the PDP and Anighoro can do to stop the
wind of CHANGE that is blowing across the political landscape of Nigeria.
He is optimistic that the APC as a progressive party with the economic prosperity “change formula” will win the general elections and in Delta State, in a ground style. He asserted that the governorship election in Delta State is between the APC candidate, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor and Senator Ifeanyi Okowa of the PDP, adding that Chief Great Ogboru of the LP will be a mere spectator and observer.

Dr. Fred, be informed that the “Uvwiamuge Declaration” is not a constitutional issue therefore it can be altered. The same UPU leaders who made that declaration have also turned it down for the political expedience at the moment. In politics, there are no permanent friends but permanent interest. So also in politics there are no permanent statements but permanent interest. If people must be held accountable for their words, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari would not qualify to contest the presidential election based on his past utterances. Please read what Muhammadu Buhari said when he contested the presidential election in 2011. He promised Nigerians thus:

“This campaign is the third and last one for me. I will not offer myself again for election into the office of president.”

Tell me Dr. Fred, why is the same Buhari in the presidential race today and you who claimed to know so much is working indirectly for him and directly for your master, Chief O’Tega Emerhor?

I am also surprised for you to say that Great Ogboru lost all past three elections including a re-run; this is a fallacy on your part! Those declared winners of elections in Nigeria are not necessarily the true winners. Late M.K.O. Abiola won the 1993 presidential election but was not declared the winner. What do you say about that?

Chief O’Tega is a man of integrity but he does not have the capacity to win the governorship election in Delta State. Great Ogboru has a large followership and he is the man to beat in the next election, so the Urhobo Nation can’t jeopardize this rare opportunity by endorsing Chief O’Tega.Great Ogboru will win the governorship in Delta State. Great Ogboru is our manooooooooo!

That UPU endorsed Ogboru against the so called “Uvwiamuge Declaration” is not a ground for any one to rubbish the Urhobo nation. Is it not true that Ogboru has more political value far more than O’tega? assuming the Uvwiamuge Declaration specifically mentioned O’tega and the present political calculations do not support the candidate and since Urhobo insists on producing a governor, is it not wise to have a second thought? But whether Onoge and his sponsors like it or not O’tega can no win the election because his political acceptability does not cut across even Urhobo clans talk less of ethnic lines.

  3. Thank to both of you (Victor and Julius)Let Oghenesivbe and his aficionado fool themselves. We 99% of the Urhobos are behind Chief Omene’s UPU leaders and fully in support of their blessings giving to Chief Ogboru as the Urhobo endorsed candidate to run against the PDP. Chief Onoge and others can go to hell.
