Why Urhobos Must Vote for Jonathan, Okowa?- Onuesoke
LAGOS FEBRUARY 7TH (URHOBOTODAY)-As the date of the 2015 general election come closer, Delta State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in 20071 general election, Chief Sunny Onuesoke has giving reasons why the indigenes of Urhobo nation in Delta State must vote for President Goodluck Jonathan as the president of Nigeria, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa as governor of Delta State and other PDP candidates.
Giving reasons why Urhobos must cast their votes for Jonathan, Okowa and other PDP candidates while addressing Udu youths who paid him a courtesy visit in Warri, Delta State, Onuesoke said it would be good for the Urhobos, Deltans and Nigerians to vote President Goodluck Jonathan for a second term in office, because President Jonathan has done well in less than six years in office, adding that his government has constructed so many roads across the nation, done well in the area of education, electric power supply, agriculture, health, aviation, and transportation among others.
“Before the coming of President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration in 2011, Nigeria economic was nothing to write home about, but today Nigeria economy is the largest in Africa and among the fastest growing economies in the world,” Onuesoke affirmed.
He urged Urhobos in particular and Deltans in general to cast their votes for Delta State PDP governorship candidate, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa because he is a well-known and humble man who has the experience to govern the state having been in different positions in government before 1999 till date.
According to him, “Okowa has done well in less than four years in the Senate based on his performance and he is the Senate House Committee Chairman on Health. Having worked so hard for his people at the grassroots, Okowa stands out as best among other governorship candidate.”
He disclosed that Okowa has been a good friend to the Urhobo for several years and do not think it is proper for the Urhobo to vote against him because he is a son of the Urhobo.
“Senator Okowa has so many brothers, sisters, relatives and friends in Delta Central and they cannot work against him at this crucial time. The Urhobos should know the importance of being in the corridors of power because it is through there they will get the full dividends of democracy and I am assuring the Urhobo that Senator Okowa will not fail them and the entire Delta State if voted as the governor of the state,” he said.
He urged the UPU leadership to consult widely with all stake holders before taking its decision because the Delta North, Central and South are all one and they should live as brothers which they have been doing before now, stressing that voting for Okowa would continue to bring peace and development to all..
He further advised that it would be a suicidal for Urhobos to vote against President Jonathan and Senator Okowa because it would not speak well of them.
