How Flood Submerges Asaba Street, Offices and Homes (PHOTOS)
LAGOS JULY 30TH (URHOBOTODAY)-Flood has taking over major roads, offices, homes and business places in Asaba, Delta state, following the heavy downpour which began at the weekend. Vehicle users, tricycle riders and pedestrians have been groaning as the flood has remained a perennial challenge in the state capital.
Major roads which include Jesus Saves Road, Direct Labour Agency (DLA) Road, Leo Okogwu Road, Agric Road, Okpanam Road, Junior Staff Quarters area and many others have been taken over by flood, which on many occasions, cut away portions of the city from others.
The draconian effect of the flood as exposed the poor drainage system in Asaba, capital city of Delta State. The flood sacked workers and some residents from their offices and homes as a result of a heavy rain, which started at about 4am without stop. The development prevented many workers and school children from going to work and school.
The flood which some residents described as unfriendly, entered some of the offices in the SUBEB complex after it collapsed one side of its fence, thereby exposing it to intruders.
Mr Emeke Odili, John Ikechukwu and Justina Mordi who spoke separately said one of the major problems facing Asaba capital city was the problem of flood, adding that residents of Okpanam and its environs could hardly move out or go back to their homes once it rains.
