I don’t Need a New Contract-Mourinho
LAGOS MAY 9TH (URHOBOTODAY)-Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has insisted that he is in no hurry to sign a new contract at Stamford Bridge.
Recent reports suggested that the Portuguese coach is going to be offered a two-year extension after guiding the Blues to Premier League glory.
Mourinho’s men wrapped up the title with three games left to play last Sunday when Eden Hazard struck from the penalty spot to earn a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace.
Mourinho has two years left on a four-year contract that he signed in 2013, and insists that he is not concerned about the paperwork as he has no intention of leaving Chelsea.
“I don’t need a contract,” Mourinho said in a press conference. “Mr [Roman] Abramovich needs to be very calm. I am in his hands. I want to stay, I don’t want to leave. I am not asking for a better contract. I am very, very calm. He doesn’t need to be worried, he has me.
“If he wants me to stay, I’m staying. When he wants me to leave, I leave. I know he wants me next season because I am working. A 10-year contract is not important.”
Chelsea will receive a guard of honour from Liverpool when they take on the Merseyside outfit at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
