LAGOS MAY 6TH (URHOBOTODAY)-Crime Reporter of The Guardian newspaper, Sunday Odita on Friday emerged the chairman of Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria, (CRAN).
He scored 16 out of the total of 28 votes to beat Raymond Tedunjaiye of New Nigerian newspaper, who scored 12 votes.
Odita takes over the leadership of the association from Christopher Orji of The Sun newspaper, whose tenure came to an end April 28, this year.

The election held at Mike Okiro Media Center on Friday, May 6 was supervised by officials of the Lagos state chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists,(NUJ), led by its chairman, Comrade Deji Elumoye.
The occasion was supervised by the Lagos State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalist Chairman Deji Elumoye.
Bose Achike of National Light newspaper beat Xavier Ndah of The Union newspaper by 14 votes to 13 to emerge the vice-chairman, even as Chimelie Ezeobi of Thisday newspaper emerged secretary having scored 15 votes to beat Moses Omoriegwa of the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN.
Evelyn Usman of Vanguard newspaper scored 15 votes against Andrew Utulu of Independent newspaper, who scored 13 votes to emerge the treasurer, while Jimoh Taiwo of The Telegraph newspaper was elected the financial secretary, having scored 14 votes to beat Ebele Boniface of The Nation newspaper, who scored 13 votes.
Mathew Dike of Leadership newspaper and Niran Odufayo of Radio Nigerian FM were returned unopposed.
In his acceptance speech, Odita said as far as he is concerned, every registered member of CRAN could be carried along, regardless of whether or not the person voted for him.
