LAGOS SEPTEMBER 13TH (URHOBOTODAY)-One Fredrick Omorieve, a retired federal civil servant and his wife, Evelyn Omorieve, have been arrested by officers of the Delta State Police Command in Asaba, after they were caught sitting for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) on behalf of two of their children, Punch reports.
They were sitting for the examination in one of the ‘miracle centres’ operating in Edo State for their two children, (a male and female) when they were arrested by policemen on mufti, working on a tip-off over the Omorieves’ alleged involvement in examination malpractice.
Reports further revealed that the two children had sat for the sub-regional examination more than three times without passing before they were re-enrolled at the “miracle centre” in Benin.
On apprehension, the police detectives reportedly took their statements under cautions and they were released on bail.
The 66-year-old pensioner and his wife, were however, rearrested by the police on Saturday around the Deeper Life Church Street, Anwai Road, Asaba, for jumping bail.
The state Commissioner of Police, Alkali Baba Usman, who confirmed the arrest, said their case file was transferred from the Edo State Police Command to Delta after they were alleged to have jumped bail for alleged examination malpractice.
