Baro’s Group Describes Lawan, Agege’s Senate Leadership Choice As Majority Decision
LAGOS JUNE 28TH (URHOBOTODAY)—Group under the aegis of Asiwaju Baro Political Forum has described the emergence of Senator Ahmed Lawan as Senate President and Ovie Omo-Agege as Deputy Senate President as a Choice of majority not a decision of a single leader of the APC Party.
The Acting Chairman of the Group, Shepherd Victor Akaighe who stated this in a statement on Thursday in meeting at Silver line Motel, Effurun , said that Baro’s group had expressed support for the candidature of Lawan including the APC National Working Committee, the Presidency, majority of APC senators-elect and governors of the party.
He said these are the critical stakeholders of the party that reserve the right to intervene in the affairs of their party. While rejoicing with their Principal Engr.(Hon). Henry Minabowanre Baro over the emergency of Ahmed Lawan and Omo-Agege as the new leadership of the 9th Assembly, the group expressed its appreciation to the senators who deemed it fit to vote for their colleagues (lawmakers), by considering Ovie Omo- Agege who just spend two and half years in the house for a leadership role because of his loyalty, vibrancy and numerous bills past within the short period of his first tenure has earned him the deputy Senate President .
The group said they had no doubts in the leadership of their principal Engr. Henry Baro who have work tirelessness in promoting President Muhammadu Buhari and all APC candidates at the just concluded elections.
He Group added that the emergence of the duo of Ahmed Lawan and Omo-Agege at the senate election didn’t come to them as a surprise but a well selected choice of the lawmakers.
