Today, we celebrate Christmas — the commemoration of the birth of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. As we engage in the customary exchange of gifts, sharing meals with family and friends, and of course, waiting for Santa Claus to arrive, let us remember the words of Jesus: “That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth God.”
On this day many years ago, Jesus was born; scriptures declare in Luke 2:7: “And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.”
Also, John 1:1-2 and 14; read: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”
The inference is that on this day, the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.
Christmas commemorates the birth of Jesus, which is when “the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” Christmas is the word personified”. Christmas is the word made flesh!
