Warri Rotary Sympathises with Flood Victims, Donates relief materials

THE Rotary Club of Warri, yesterday, in a humanitarian gesture donated relief materials worth several thousand of Naira to the Internally Displaced Persons camped at the Swamp Road Camp in Warri, Headquarters of Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.

Also, they promised to foot the surgical bills of Mr. Peter James who is suffering from hernia and was rushed from the camp on emergency to the Warri Central hospital at the time they arrived the camp.

According to Rotarian Adamson Ejuoneatse-Thompson, President, Rotary Club of Warri, “We of Warri Rotary Club have come to sympathize with you, we have come to complement what the government and other well meaning Nigerians have been doing.

“We also promised to take up the bill for the surgery of one of the victims, who was rushed to hospital, we are humanitarian people. These items are to augment the need of our brothers and sisters who have been displaced.”

Mr. Francis Ikpagbi, Swamp Road Camp Commandant while receiving the items expressed gratitude to Rotary Club of Warri and also thanked the State Government for being responsive to the needs of the people.

According to him, “We thank you for this wonderful gesture; we pray that God almighty will meet your needs. We also salute the courage of the state government they have been responsible for the people’s need.”

On his part, Rotarian Blackwell Idiahi added, “As humanitarian people, we have come to show our concern to the victims of the flood. Rotary believes in oneness and support to one another, we have come to share in their pains, we have come to partner them, the items will go a long way in assuaging their pains.”
