The National Youth leader of the Urhobo Political Congress, UPC and one of the convener of the Urhobo agenda, Chief Jaro Egbo has described the recent attack by a group in Delta North that styles itself as Anioma Agenda on the Urhobo Progress Union, UPU over its alliance with the Arewa Consultative Forum, as not only provocative a declaration of war on the Urhobo Nation.
Chief Jaro Egbo while fielding question from journalist after the meeting of the National Executive of the UPC at Mosogar, condemned the action of the group and warned that if within short time they fail to apologize to the Urhobo nation it would be considered as a declaration of war, and that the Anioma’s will be treated in likewise manner.
He therefore called on the political leaders in Delta North to caution some of their youths who are bent on overheating the polity ahead of 2015, noting that the Urhobos cannot be push out of the race to government house come 2015, and that if anything to the contrary, it would be subject to agreement and understanding and not by intimidation.
“The utterance by that youngman who is looking for cheap political relevance on the move by the UPU to reach out to other ethnic groups to expand the political frontiers of the Urhobo people and also to remove the Urhobos from its present political quagmires is not only provocative, it is a mark of a jobless Youngman chewing more than he can swallow.”
