Urhobo Students under the aegis of Udu Students Stakeholders Forum has drummed support for Delta State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism Barr Mofe Damijo, just as they debunked recent media publication accusing the Commissioner of non-performance.
The group in a press statement signed by Comrade Solomon Ogoron and Comrade Michael Ovwielejeria expressed bitterness over a publication by a group under the umbrella of Udu Students and Youth for Good Governance on the Urhobotimes of May 16TH, 2013 describing Damijo as non-performer, adding that the allegations lacked merit.

“We the concerned members of the Udu Student Stake Holder Forum debunk the statement directed to the Hon Commissioner representing Udu in Delta State for not promoting youth’s empowerment, no dividend of democracy in Udu. The said publication lack fact and merit,” the statement said.
Urging the people of Delta state to jettison the publication the group maintained that they are solemnly against any groups of persons who tongue lashing Damijo for no reason, adding that they were shocked to hear that the commissioner has not done anything in Udu local government whereas his achievements in the community and state are there for all to testify.
“First and for more you need to understand how government works. Mofe Damijo is a commissioner for the entire Delta state but he was able to bring development to his Udu people by pleading to the Governor of Delta State, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan to locate the first tourism center Delta Leisure Pack to be sited in Udu. If this project is completed it will create more than 400 job opportunities for unemployed youths in Udu. As a matter of fact people are already doing mini contract in the site. The bridge which was the most important obstacle has been completed in Oleri.
Damijo. as a person has been involved in assisting Udu students with payment of school fees. Through his effort the street light in Uvwie has been extended to Udu. You can check the beautification works for the entire Delta state especially the Igbogidi Grammer School in Udu local government area. He donated a ferry boat and engine as source of income to the community and many others.
We the students leaders appreciate the State governor His Excellency, Dr Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan for his effort in the development of the educational sector and as students we will always contribute our quota as leaders of tomorrow for the development of the state.
