WARRI – Urhobo People Forum (UPF), an online based social group on facebook with membership of over 3, 000 people of Urhobo ancestry is holding its Second Urhobo Youth Sovereign Congress at the Urhono Progress Union (UPU) hall on Wednesday in Uvwiamuge-Agbarho, Delta State.
Co-ordinator of UPF, Mr. Nathanael Dortie, who made the pronouncement in a press statement made available to Urhobotoday in Warri, Delta State said the programme is aimed towards development plans that would enhance the employment ability of Urhobo Youths in the global labour market.

Dortie who said his group had embarked on a two- year development plan for the youths of Urhoboland which commenced last year, outlined the objective of the developmental plan as focused on enhancing the empowerment strength of Urhobo youths so as to aid their ability in getting employment in the global market.
According to him, “Most of our youths who are graduates have very little prospect of getting job. Those employed are under employed and paid paltry wages. Our goal is to give them the functional training, exposure and certification that will enhance their marketability both in Nigeria and anywhere in the world.
“Through this, they will be better qualified than their peers and stand out among the labour crowd, should the need arise to take job opportunities thereof. We will be motivating them to believe in themselves through motivational lectures, speeches and participation in conferences during the plan period,”
He pointed out that Urhobo youths who are more educationally agile would be sponsored to partake in international certification examinations, internship programs and scholarship among others, just as he explained that other participants would be sorted into ‘skills group’ which would assist in identifying areas that needs enhancement and thereby invest in helping to upgrade their skill competencies.
