(L-R) Majority Leader Delta House of Assembly, Non Monday Egbuya, an Executive of UPF,Obarisi (Barr) Ovie Omo-Agege, Chairman UPF Chief Ighoyota Amori and Hon A.P. Fovie Chairman BOT of UPF during Omo-Agege visist

LAGOS JULY 23RD (URHOBOTODAY)-The National Chairman of the Urhobo Political Forum (UPF), Chief Ighoyota Amori has called on Urhobo politicians to put their personal interest aside and support Obaisi Ovie-Agege’s gubernatorial bid for the overall interest of the Urhobo nation. According to Amori, Omo-Agege entrance into the 2015 governorship race has given hope and confidence to the entire Urhobo nation, stressing that Omo-Agege has all that is needed to lead the struggle to victory.
Chief Amori made this remark when Omo-Agege, a PDP governorship aspirant paid a consultative visit to the members of the UPF at Chief Amori’s country home in Mosogar over the weekend, noting that Omo-Agege’s aspiration has removed shame from the Urhobo nation.
“I want to thank Obaisi Ovie Omo-Agege for making us proud. I am not thanking him for making Amori proud, rather for making Urhobo proud. God has made it possible that from today Urhobo suffering has come to an end.”, Amori said.
“There is an Urhobo parable which says; ‘you will know the food that will feed your stomach through the look of the food.’ I think from what we have seen today, Urhobo has no reason to be ashame again, because the man before us is ‘Otemu no Ruemu”, which means he is capable. “What I see today is of great joy to me,” he added.
He urged members of UPF to support Omo-Agege candidacy because “it is not just Omo-Agege who is contesting. We all are. If he fails, it is all of us that failed. This is what I want all of you to brainstorm about.”
According to Amori the Urhobos have been struggling for good things without a capable leader in recent past but “that gap, that lacuna has been properly filled today”
“We have been saying we want the position of governor in 2015, but there was no Urhobo candidate of substance until Omo-Agege showed up. The others who had indicated interest seem not to be matured enough. And if we go with them, it means they will pick up the Urhobos very cheap like snail. We pray they should not pick us up easily like snail. But today, we have a candidate that can compete with others and win.” he added.
Amori was full of optimism when he stated that with Omo-Agege in the race Urhobo is now ready for the challenge ahead in 2015.
“If you want to eat toad, eat the fat juicy toad with eggs. I am sure we are seeing a fat juicy toad with eggs today. Whatever route our opponents want to take we are ready for them. We have what they have. We even have more than what they have. This is what will make us proud. Omo-Agege has made us proud and with him Urhobo can go into the battle of 2015 with confidence. So I thank Omo-Agege for a job well done,” he added.
The support of Amori and his UPF, together with the support of Urhobo Political Congress (UPC) which Omo-Agege chaired until he declared his intention to run for governor in 2015 means Omo-Agege has secured the support of the two major political pressure groups in Delta Central PDP and he is now the aspirant to beat for the PDP ticket.

I thank Obarisi Ovie Omo-Agege for making us proud. It is only people with the third eye will understand what I mean by saying for “making us proud”. I am not saying making Amori proud, rather for making Urhobo proud. God has made it possible that from today Urhobo suffering has come to an end.
There is an Urhobo parable which says “ You will know the food that will feed your stomach through the look of the food”. I think from what we have seen today, Urhobo has no reason to be ashame again. Because the man before us is “ Otemu no Ruemu,” which means he is capable. What I see today is of great joy to me. But many of you may not understand what is on ground. And I pray that God will give you that knowledge to understand what is on ground. If you see people like this contesting, it is not them that are contesting. That is why God will give you the knowledge to really understand. It is not just Omo-Agege who is contesting. We all are. If he fails, it is all of us that failed. This is what I want all of you to brainstorm about. If you look at our own experience, people struggle over sweet things. We are struggling for something and we did not have a capable person to lead the struggle. Is it not disgrace? Or let me reverse it. We struggle for the delicious food and finally there is no fish. Is it not what they like they will give to us? That is what they have done to us till date. That gap, that lacuna has been properly filled today. Set aside your personal interest and consider the interest of the Urhobo people in all your political calculation and support Ovie Omo-Agege.
And that brings me to why UPF was formed in 2005. I have so many avenues to express myself politically. But the Urhobo nation need a platform on which to express themselves. We are getting very close to that again. Even though the atmosphere was better than what it is now. Then Chief James Ibori was the governor. Ibori being the governor cannot express the opinion of the Urhobo people because he was the governor for everybody.
As you know, Ibori was facing some political upheaval at that time. I was not the chairman of the party. How do I express myself then. Do I say Chief Igoyota Amori from Ethiope-West. That is is not good enough. So we created the forum to be able to defend the political interest of the Urhobo people. That is how UPF was born in 2005.
Today, we face a similar situation. We are not the chairman of the party, we are not the secretary of the party. Even the one we had at Port Harcourt is no more there. We are not at Abuja, we are not at the state and we are no more in Port-Harcourt. So you see we cannot express ourselves from the party. So if we cannot express ourselves from the party, then we must do that through a political pressure group within the party to defend our political interest.
That is why people must take this pressure group seriously. It is not meant for me Ighoyota Amori. It is not something for individual interest. It is something for collective interest. We are defending our interest, the interest of all Urhobo people. Politics is very vital in our lives. We need a platform to placate and defend the political interest of Urhobo people. Seek first the kingdom of God and His sacrament and all other things shall be added unto you. Am I talking to somebody?
Urhobo interest must be protected evertime. We have been saying we want the position of governor in 2015, but there was no Urhobo candidate of substance until Omo-Agege showed up. The others who had indicated interest seem not to be matured enough. And if we go with them, it means they will pick up the Urhobos very cheap like snail. We pray they should not pick us up easily like snail. But today, we have a candidate that can compete with others and win. The competition is going to be very tough. It is going to be “Edje Kare Edje”.
If you want to eat toad eat the fat juicy toad with eggs. I am sure we are seeing a fat juicy toad with eggs today. Whatever route our opponents want to pass, we are ready for them. We have what they have. We even have more than what they have. This is what will make us proud. Omo-Agege has made us proud and with him Urhobo can go into the battle of 2015 with confidence. So I thank Omo-Agege for a job well done.
UPF is coming to Ughelli North on Sunday 20th to make noise in the interest of Urhobo people. This is because if we did not show ourselves they will think we do not have people. We want to show ourselves all the time. If you look at UPF, they are politicians everyday. They are not politicians on holiday.
Thank you all.
