President Jonathan to Commission Rehabilitated Ikeja Police College Today

President Goodluck Jonathan unscheduled visit to the dilapitated Police College Ikeja

LAGOS JULY 19TH (URHOBOTODAY)-President Goodluck Jonathan will on Friday, commission the rehabilitated Ikeja Police College, Lagos.
The College, which was in the news after being exposed by Channels Television as being in a state of endemic dilapidation of its infrastructure, had immediately received Presidential attention following the report.

The President, who had paid an unscheduled visit to the college to access the state of things for himself, had met a dilapidated students’ hostel which had no beds, mattresses and functioning toilets while parts of the school had been rented out by its authorities for wedding receptions.
The television station’s documentary, which captured the dehumanising conditions of police cadets, had obviously embarrassed the President who had immediately directed the immediate rehabilitation of the college under a four-month ultimatum to the Nigerian Army Corps of Engineers who have now accomplished the task and given the college a new look.
Aside the commissioning of the college, Jonathan is expected to have several private meetings in Lagos before returning to Abuja at the weekend.
