Pilot Dies as Nigerian Air Force Fighter Jet Crashes in Adamawa

LAGOS OCTOBER 11TH (URHOBOTODAY)-A Nigerian Air Force (NAF801) F7-Ni fighter jet returning to the base from an interdicted mission crashed due to bad weather, an official statement said Saturday night.
A statement by Director ,Public Relations, Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Dele Alonge said the jet was “not under enemy fire” when it crashed “around Hong, Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State at about 1623hrs (4.23 pm)”.
According to the Air Force spokesman, “There was no (survivor) as the pilot of the aircraft lost his life in the unfortunate incident.”
Alonge disclosed further that the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal SB Abubakar has set up an investigation panel to unravel the remote and immediate causes of the accident.
There have air mishaps in in recent past Adamawa which is also one of the states ravaged by Boko Haram insurgency.
Most of the recent Boko Haram attacks appear to have been largely in Borno and Yobe states just as Adamawa continues to battle with the issue of internally displaced people.
