LAGOS MARCH 4TH (URHOBOTODAY)-Former Minster of Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, Elder Godsday Orubebe seems to have realised his mistake of picking issues with Ijaw Leader Chief Edwin Kiagbodo and had resorted to call for settlement.
It would be recalled that the father and son relationship between Clark and Orubebe was soiled last year when Clark addressed a press conference decrying Orubebe’s declaration for Delta State governorship election which according to Clark was untimely.
Beside, there was this internal misunderstanding between the Ijaw leader and Orubebe over the ownership of the political structure of Burutu local government area.
The misunderstanding between the duo resulted in Delta Elders, Leaders and Stake Holder Forum a group under the leadership of Clark to petition Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) accusing Orubebe of corruption.
Orubebe in turn dragged some members of the group to court on charges of libelous allegations. He also took E.K. Clark to court over ownership of the Burutu LGA political structures. Besides, there were media wars between the duo which ended up with Orubebe saying Clark did not make him when it was glaring that Orubebe grew up under the political tutelage of E.K. Clark. Ever since then, there have been cold wars between them.
However, with Orubebe resignation as a Minister and his intention to grab Delta State governorship slot, it downed on him that he could not do without the support of his erstwhile godfather, Chief E.K. Clark.
Urhobotoday investigation revealed that in order for Orubebe to achieve his ambition, he decided to send emissaries to those close to E.K. Clark to appeal to him to shield his sword, appealing that he is prepared to abide to what he requested for so as to receive his blessing towards the coming election.
It was alleged that during the meeting between Orubebe’s emissaries and contact of E.K. Clark, Orubebe agreed to withdraw both cases from court, adding that he would accept the supremacy of the Ijaw leader over him.
Urhobotoday reliably gathered that E.K. Clark and his group are presently in a crucial meeting at Abuja deliberating on the issue. While some group are of the view that Orubebe is using it as a ploy to gain Clark’s favour so as to win Delta State governorship election come 2015 or others felt although Orubebe had done wrong by raising shoulder with Clark, but he should be forgiven if he would agree to withdraw the two cases from court and bow before E.K. Clark.
Be that as it may, Urhobotoday investigation from a reliable source revealed that Orubebe has no choice than to bow to the wishes of Clark.
Our source alleged that one of the cases is holding at Federal High Court tomorrow (Wednesday) and if Orubebe withdraws the case as speculated that means he has already throwing in the towel and ready for full settlement with the Ijaw Leader Chied Edwin Kiagbodo Clark.
