N300m Budgeted for African Athletic Championship is a Waste -Deltans

Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan

The Delta State Government through its State Sports Commission chairman, Pinnick Amaju has told the Pubilc that a grant of N300 Million has been approved for the successful conduct of the African Junior Athletics Championship.
The All day championship is the maiden edition bid to hold between March 27th and 30th.
There was an outrage yesterday by a large number of Deltans, claiming that N300 Million on a three day event in the face of stiff underdevelopment that fights Delta is wasteful.

It was also expressed that the championship shows no direct meaning and poses no benefit to the people of Delta State at the moment. And that spending such a huge sum is not justified but only shows the extent of confusion that has gripped Governor and the level of focus lost by the Government.
Meanwhile, some Deltans have adviced the Governor Uduaghan leadership to return back to the drawing board to redefine its agenda and venture into programmes that will improve the lives of Deltans.
