Leave Contractors Alone, DESOPADEC Advises Oil Communities

LAGOS JUNE 14TH (URHOBOTODAY) WARRI—COMMISSIONER representing Ijaw ethnic nationality on the board of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, Mr. Kingsley Otuaro, has advised oil communities not to make unnecessary demands from contractors to enable them execute projects on schedule and according to specifications.
Otuaro, who spoke to Vanguard, yesterday, said: “DESOPADEC has awarded contracts to contractors for various projects that will impact on the life of our people and the expectation of the commission is that the jobs will be delivered on schedule.
“So, I appeal to communities not to make unnecessary demand from contractors or put stumbling blocks on their way, so as not to let anybody give us excuse.
“All projects must meet engineering design and specification. No shoddy job will be tolerated because these projects are for us and our children.”
He explained that DESOPADEC was already carrying out enlightenment to sensitise Ijaw communities on the need for them not to disturb contractors so that they will be focus on quality and delivery.
