LAGOS JANUARY 6TH (URHOBOTODAY)-The Lagos State Police Command has raised the alarm over the creation of fake Facebook account bearing the name of its Commissioner of Police, CP Kayode Aderanti.
A press statement signed by Lagos State Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO) Mr Ken Nwosu made available to Urhobotoday said the facebook account in question which bear “CP Kayode Aderanti” was recently introduced by one shadowy character as the authentic Facebook account of the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command to members of the Social Network with the intention of giving the impression that images being displayed and comments from the fraudulent account are made by the reputable Commissioner of Police Lagos State.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the Commissioner of Police Lagos State Command, CP. Kayode Aderanti does not in any way operate a Facebook account (either official or private). Therefore, the Commissioner of Police advises all members of the public and in particular Facebook users to ignore the said account as it does not belong to him, ” the statement advised just as it warned that any correspondence or exchange of messages on the page has nothing to do with the Commissioner of Police Lagos State Command or any officer of the Nigeria Police Force at large.
While advising the general public to disregard any comments, solicitations and approaches from the account as it is certainly not operated by CP Kayode Aderanti or any of his officers,
The statement assured that efforts are being made to apprehend the character (s) behind this fraudulent act.
