Independence: Ughelli North Chairman Urges Nigerians to Shun Criminal Vices

Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Area Transition Council Hon Friday Akpoyibo has appealed to Nigerians guide this nascent democracy and shun criminal vices so as to allow Nigerian nascent democracy to blossom to the benefit of all.
Akpoyibo who gave the advise on Nigerian Independence while observing match past and cultural at activities at Ughelli stadium as part of activities marking independence celebration in Ughelli North LGA enjoined the people to put the past behind them and brace up for the challenges ahead, adding that democracy had brought a lot of development in term of infrastructural, health, social and education development to the society.
Akpoyibo thanked Delta State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan for giving him the opportunity to serve the people of Ughelli North LGA noting that his people should re-call in their minds, the political, economical, and social up heaved that Nigeria as a county is passing through, advising that they should brace up to the challenges ahead.
He called on Nigerians to guide the nascent democracy jealously and allow it to blossom saying that this could be done by running away from any social vices that are unfriendly to the society. The Local Government Chairman said he was proud of the good people of Ughelli North Local Government Area because they are peaceful and hard working.
The Independence day gathering at Ughelli stadium was made up who is who in the local government area. Present in the occasion were the Ughelli North Local Government Area Chairman, Mr Friday Akpoyibo and his wife, Mr. C.O. Anighoro, who is the head of personnel management, traditional rulers, the Council People Democratic Party (PDP) leaders, students from diferent schools and personalities from all walk of lives.
There was a match past competition among the various schools that were present with Ughelli North Local Nursery School,Ughelli winning the first position, while High Standard Nursery School Ughelli came second in the nursery section.
Excellent Group of Schools and Eseophe Primary School came out first and second respectively in the primary schools category, while Government Collage Ughelli, and Unity Model School Agbarho came first and second respectively in the secondary school category.
The rich cultural heritage of the Nigerian people were show cased though dancing with Ekiugbo Grammar School emerging first
In the closing Remark, the Chairman thanked all those present and prayed that God should grant them journey mercies to their various homes.
