Ijaw Group Claims Responsibility for Dibi Oil Platform Explosion, Threatens to Blow Up the Entire Flow Station

LAGOS MARCH 19TH (URHOBOTODAY)-A group under the aegis of Egbama Radical Group has claimed responsibility for the early Wednesday morning explosion that rocked a major line at the Dibi platform in Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State.
“The explosion that rocked Dibi major line is a continuation of our warning to the Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan on his failure to implement the Warri Peace Agreement (equity) and negligence on the part of Chevron Nig Ltd over their failure to empower, employ and pay damage done to the Egbema Radical Group and the people of the area.

“We therefore warn that if the Delta State Government and Chevron Nig Ltd fail to address the issue within the next 24 hours, we will not hesitate to bomb the entire flow station,” the group threatens.
Speaking via the telephone with URHOBOTODAY, spokesperson for the group, Ami Dada said the explosion which occurred around 2am was carried out to warn the State Government and Chevron Nigeria Ltd for what they termed as negligence of the company and the government on the people of the area.
“One of the EPZ offices in the Warri council area has since been relocated to Ugborodo, an Itsekiri community, the other one in Warri North should be relocated to Egbema kingdom for the Ijaws. We are asking this for the spirit of fare play and equity.
“We are hearing reports that Uduaghan is nursing ambition to run for Senate come 2015 after his tenure in office, let it be known today that, if he fails to adhere to the Warri Peace Agreement, he should forget about our votes as well,” he added.
It has since been discovered that the Dibi facility has three platforms which is being operated by Chevron Nigeria Limited.
