IGP Orders Release of Detained Sun Editor, Ebere Wabara

LAGOS MARCH 30TH (URHOBOTODAY)-Detained Editor of Sun newspaper, Ebere Wabara has been released after the intervention of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Abubakar.
URHOBOTODATHER gathered that Wabara who was abducted from Lagos to Umuahia yesterday by the Abia state police under the order of Abia state Governor, Mr Theodora Orji was released on bail by 10.15 pm on Saturday.

The correspondent of Sun newspapaer, Chuks Onuoha took Wabara;s bail. After the bail, he was told to report to the office of the Commissioner of Police, Umuahia, Abia State on Monday 10 am.
It would be recalled that the abduction and detention of Wabara had generated a lot of outcry and condemnation from well meaning Nigerians all over the country. They saw the commando style of abduction as taking Nigeria back to the era of military rule.
The Nigerians Union of Journalists (NUJ) and Nigeria Guild of Editors were at the forefront of the condemnation of arrest of Wabara. In a press statement, they called for the immediate and unconditional release of the veteran journalist.
