Operatives of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) have arrested officials of the Delta State government and contractors over alleged fraud and non-performance.
Two contractors (names withheld) have been allegedly arrested by the officials of the commission over their non-execution of projects worth N6billion.

Commissioners in the affected ministries, who did not want their names in print, confirmed that the contractors were handled in “their evil corn,” thinking it was business as usual.
LEADERSHIP WEEKEND learnt that some concerned Deltans were sent to bring to book, organisations and individuals looting the treasury, especially contractors who abandoned projects after collecting mobilisation fees.
Hon. Funkekeme Solomon, the Commissioner for Works, however, disclosed that contractors were the major problems of the state. Sources said the ICPC boss, Mr. Ekpo Nta, had directed that the commission’s attention should be on investigating the “failed contractors” who abandoned projects on site after collecting mobilisation fees.
The sources said there were avalanche of petitions on a particular senator, a former acting governor, top appointees of Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, civil servants and some members of the state House of Assembly, who allegedly abused their offices.
LEADERSHIP WEEKEND checks revealed that government officials who owned choice properties in the state have changed the ownership of properties to avoid being arrested.
