I was Agent to Amaechi, Jang, Not Returning Officer – Uduaghan

Delta State Governor Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan

The exact circumstances surrounding the conduct of the Nigeria Governors Forum election which returned Rotimi Amaechi as chairman continue to emerge.
Now Delta Governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan is saying that he served as agent to contestants Jonah Jang and Amaechi.
Uduaghan, who has identified with the pro-Jang faction, said that as agent for both candidates, he ‘protected the interest’ of eventual winner Amaechi and Jang during the vote count.

He was reacting to the version of events put forward by the Ekiti governor Kayode Fayemi which suggested that he (Uduaghan) was the returning officer for the election.
“I was not the Returning Officer for the election as claimed by Fayemi but acted as agents of both candidates for the election.”
Uduaghan said he offered to be the agent of the two candidates for the election after a demand was made for four persons to serve as agents of the two candidates and no one offered to do so.
“I wouldn’t know why Governor Fayemi will come out publicly to say what is not true,” he said.
The governors, now firmly divided along presidential loyalty line, have fought to keep details of the election secret.
However, with new and startling revelations emerging by the day (or is it hour now?) of the conduct of the elections, including a yet to be released cellphone video of the whole session, we may not have to wait longer to piece together the whole picture.
