Heavy Shooting as Boko Haram Fighters and Soldiers Clash over Control of Maiduguri

LAGOS MARCH 14TH (URHOBOTODAY)-Reports from Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, indicated that the town is in turmoil as there is heavy fighting between soldiers and Boko Haram fighters for the control of the capital city.
We gathered that explosions and gunfire rocked the volatile northern Nigerian city of Maiduguri Friday morning was still on as at the time of this report.

According to eye witnesses scores of suspected Boko Haram Islamist have also attacked a military barrack in the town.
The gunmen stormed the Fauri area of Maiduguri, a hotbed of the Boko Haram insurgency, after crossing a river on the fringes of the city. They opened fire on the Giwa military barracks, sparking a fierce exchange of fire with the soldiers inside, they said.
Reports have it that the heavy shooting between men of the Joint Military Task Force and heavily armed militants have sent jitters to the residents of the town, sending panic across Maiduguri.
Residents are said to be presently scampering for their lives, students are being hurriedly picked from schools and workers are returning homes.
The streets are reported to gradually becoming desolate except the presence of the warring parties.
There were no immediate reports of casualties
