Fraudster Absconds after Duping 50 Job Seekers in Delta over Ugborodo EPZ Project

LAGOS FEBRUARY 4TH (URHOBOTODAY)—A man simply identified as Wisdom, is now on the run, for allegedly defrauding over 50 job seekers, who jumped at his offer of mouthwatering jobs at the yet to take-off Federal Government Export Processing Zone, Ogodigben in Warri South-West Local Government Area, Delta State.
It dawned on the job racketeering victims that they had been duped when they arrived, weekend, in Ode-Ugborodu to the bemused host community folks of the EPZ project, where the fraudster had directed them to meet a fake associate expected to accommodate and take them to the project site for jobs placement.
Narrating their ordeal during interrogation at a community gathering in Ugborodo, Josiah Mathias, who spoke on behalf of others, said he paid N70,000 to the said Wisdom after a neighbour in Bonny, Rivers State, intimated him of several job opportunities at Ogidigben on January 2, 2014.
Matthias, said: “All of us here paid various sums of money through various contacts from different locations to Wisdom, some above, others below the amount I parted with. We were told work would be ready in two weeks.
“On January 2, virtually all of us received a text message to proceed to Ugborode on January 31, to resume work almost immediately after issuance of identity cards at the presumed establishment’s conference hall. We got here now to meet a different story. It is so painful.”
The community, which initially held the victims, over their surprise appearance in the volatile Ugborodo later freed them to return to their respective destinations at the end of the interrogation.
