LAGOS SEPTEMBER 29TH (URHOBOTODAY)-A member of Board of Trustees of All Progressives Congress (APC) and leader of Delta State Chapter of the party, Olorogun Otega Emerhor has described the victory of APC and its candidate in Edo State as a good omen for greater things to come in electioneering processes as we make progress to further consolidate constitutional democracy in Nigeria.
The APC chieftain in a statement released by his Director of Political Communication, Barrister Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, made the observation while congratulating the Governor-Elect of Edo State, His Excellency, Godwin Obaseki.
He said Edo people’s choice today is a clear signal to elected public office holders not to take the electorates for granted because they have a way of puncturing failed politicians future political ambitions through the ballot papers.
He posited that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize Iyamu misfired when he thought Edo people had forgotten the misrule of PDP in the state for which he played key roles as Chief of Staff and Secretary to the State Government during Lucky Igbinedion’s bad rulership.
Emerhor commended Gov Adams Oshiomole for his forthrightness, proactive leadership pedigree and political sagacity which placed APC far and above the PDP by convincingly winning the governorship election.
The party BOT member further asserted that Oshiomole’s good governance in Edo State under the APC attracted the massive votes for Obaseki thereby relegating Pastor Osagie Ize Iyamu to the well deserved back stage of irrelevance in the political scheme of things in the State.
He urged the vibrant and politically active people of Edo State to pray for their Governor-Elect, Godwin Obaseki for God to continually grant him good health and greater divine wisdom so that he can function maximally to take the state from where it is now to a higher, greater and more progressive dimensions.
Emerhor who is also a member of the National Campaign Council on Edo and member sub-committee on finance said the steam generated from the election will certainly overflow into 2019 in Delta State, adding that the needful shall be done to uproot the PDP from Government House Asaba, so as to facilitate rapid socioeconomic remodelling of the State.
He prayed God to protect and grant Obaseki uncommon wisdom, good health and high sense of responsibility in the discharge of his official functions as the new administrative and political leader of Edo State, after Gov Oshiomole’s exit in November, this year.
