LAGOS JUNE 1ST (URHOBOTODAY)-Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, has appealed to people of the state to avoid standing up or prostrating for him as he is also an ordinary man. Okowa gave the charge Sunday in a remark at a thanksgiving service at St. Philip’s Anglican Church, Asaba.
“Please, brethren, as a Christian, don’t stand up for me in church. When you approach me outside to talk to me, never you kneel before me. This is a plea as a Christian and an order as a governor. I am saying this so that the grace of God upon my life is not taken away from me”, he said.
At the thanksgiving reception, Governor Okowa made his first major appointment of the Secretary to the State Government, a former Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Festus Ovie Agass. “I want to believe Deltans are happy with the appointment as evidenced by the wild jubilation. I used the occasion to test our thinking of what the cabinet will look like and with this first appointment, I believe we are in the right direction”, he said.
The governor said he would run a moderate cabinet, taking cognisance of the peculiarities of diverse ethnic groups in the state.
“The number of appointees will not be too low or so large. A good number of people who worked for us to be here would be brought into the cabinet, while not losing sight of our cardinal principles of justice, equity and fairness in balancing appointments”, he said.

  1. Omo Delta Omo Delta says:

FAO: Elder (Dr.) Chukwuma Nwaonicha- If you know that you are an elder in the Church of the living God it is now time to ask Dr Okowa to pray for forgiveness and publicly too for robbing the people of Delta State for rigging and election (11th April 2015)

Stop identifying with and parading the name of the Almighty God (or is it your local god you are referring to here?) who will not listen to you

One thing I hate so much with passion is the practice of the so called men of God giving church thanks giving service to election riggers instead of politely telling them the the truth as pastors or Bishops. Bishop Avwomakpa is prominent on this fraud against God for always praising and dancing with Dr E E Uduagha each time he rigged election and going to his, Bishop Avwomakpa church afterwards and knowing full well that the elections were rigged but instead of asking him (Dr E E Uduaghan) to repent he, Bishop Avwomakpa ) will be dancing for money! Shame!

Should Bishop Avwomakpa failed to address this concern and publicly too he would incur the wrath of the living and the Almighty God in Heavens soon

    The choice is yours

  2. Can someone tell Omo Delta to clarify his believe first before establishing his ignorance , if his inferences are hinged on Christianity let him without delay go through the chapters of the Bible and amplify any part that bared or condemn any one who seek God in the Church ,, Omo Delta should not hijack the wig of God , he should precipitate his endeavor with magnanimity and add to his lopsided knowledge ,that politics is now a multi polarised game with plenty opportunity but every player has only an ambition ,,, there is no part of the world where the equilibrium of politics settles without hitches, Deltans are typically informed enough not to be coarse into politics of mediocrity and sentiment ,, many a times more people are more right ,, the few wrong should put corrective rather than criticizing measures to become right another time ,,
