WARRI — THE leadership of Ekpan community in Uvwie council area of Delta State has apprehended an alleged kidnap and robbery kingpin, Gift Famous Etagvwene a.k.a Babune and handed him over to the Ekpan Police Headquarters.
The community was said to have arrested him last Wednesday after an alleged escape and gun fire exchange with security personnel in the community.
Famous, said to be an ex-convict, was involved in the kidnap of a Shell Petroleum Development Company, SPDC, staff (name withheld) on March 19, 2001.
Security sources told Vanguard that they swooped on the gang in Benin City where a member was caught with Famous (Babune) while others escaped.
Security details later trailed Babune to Ekpan where he again escaped into the bush after a gun duel .
The community, therefore, took it upon itself to apprehend and hand him over to the police, promising to fish out all criminals in the community.
