Delta State Auditor General Dragged to Court over Retirement Age

The Delta State Auditor General, Mrs. Brown Njokanwa, has been dragged to the State High court sitting in Asaba, the state capital, over her retirement age.
Joined in the suit in the originating summons as 2nd, 3rd and 4th defendants are the State Head of Service, Sir Okechukwu Ofili, Permanent Secretary, Directorate of Establishment, Mrs. Nwabueze and the State Civil Service Commission.

Mrs. Edith Nenty, who filed the suit, is seeking an order declaring “that the 1st defendant stands retired since December, 2008 having worked for 35 years commencing from November, 1973 and by virtue of chapter 2 section 8 rules 9 of the public service rule, Delta State.”
The indigene of Okpe-Isoko in Isoko North Local Government Area also demanded an “order directing the 1st defendant to refund all the monies collected as salary from January 2009 till her disengagement from the service of Delta State.”
The case which came up for hearing Wednesday at the High Court 3 presided over by Justice Ogisi has been adjourned to 14th February 2013.
