The Secretary General of the United Nations, Mr. Ban Ki-moon has appointed the Executive Director of the African Centre for Leadership, Strategy & Development (Centre LSD), Dr. Otive Igbuzor, into the Secretary General’s Network of Men Leaders.
A statement made available to Urhobotoday by the Programme Officer of the Centre, Monday Osasah disclosed that the appointment of the Delta State born human right activist vests him with the responsibility of supporting the Secretary General’s campaign to “Unite to End Violence against women” and advocate for preventing and ending all forms of violence against women and girls in all parts of the world.
According to the statement, Igbuzor who had accepted the appointment, stated that “as an advocate of gender equality and women empowerment, I will utilize the new opportunity to advocate and mobilize for zero tolerance of violence against women and girls of all ages”.
He called on African men and boys to join the crusade to end violence against women.
