Delta: Social Media Advocates to Brainstorm in Asaba

LAGOS JUNE 20TH (URHOBOTODAY)-Social media advocates under the aegis of National Association of Social Media Practitioners of Nigeria (NASMPON) are expected to meet in Asaba, Delta to brainstorm on how to protect the interest of practitioners and equally use their position to contribute towards the growth and development of Nigeria.
A press statement signed by NASMPON National President/Convener, Comrade Sunny Basikoro made available to Urhobotoday said the meeting with the theme, “ The Advent of Social Media in Nigeria and Its Prospect to Nigerian Youths” would hold on Saturday June 25th, by 12 pm prompt at Bellwood Hotel along Okpanam Road, Asaba, Delta State.
He said they have decided to come together as an organization to brainstorm as to make Facebook, Twitter and other social media outlets attractive as avenues for job creation for members by acting as a body complementary to every other social media unions in Nigeria.
Basikoro noted that beside catering for social media users interests, he added that they would also use their position to contribute to the building of Nigeria.
“The teachers in Nigeria have a union, Nigeria Union Of Teachers (NUT). So also do the journalists have NUJ. Practically, individuals in various fields of life, traders, manufacturers, engineers, chemists, bricklayers, cobblers and mechanics among others have unions mainly for the welfare or interests of members.
“The case of proud social media users in Nigeria cannot be different. Especially at this time of high network information dissemination and when the social media has become a source of engagement. This is why social media lovers and advocates in Nigeria have decided to converge on the way forward.
“At the congress which is a maiden one, a lot of opportunities shall be revealed and so if you are a proud social media practitioner, please avail yourself of this rare golden opportunity of a needed and welcomed revolution,” he disclosed.
