Delta North Governorship Aspirants Gang Up against Obuh, Says He is not a Member of PDP

Tony Obuh faces challenges from his home front

LAGOS NOVEMBER 10TH (URHOBOTODAY)-Delta Sate Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship aspirants from Delta North in the 2015 governorship election, after a meeting, weekend, in Warri, vowed to resist alleged planned imposition of a candidate on the party ahead of the primaries.
Aspirants at the meeting who first met at a hotel in Effurun and later shifted to the Warri home of Ijaw Leader, Chief Edwin Clark, were former Delta Assembly Speaker, Victor Ochei, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, member of the House of the Representatives, Ndudi Elumenu amd Sylvester Monye, among others.

Following consultation with Chief Clark which lasted till Saturday night, one of the protesters who briefed the press on the outcome said: “Those of us who bought forms and have submitted, except Tony Obuh, have all met today and we have come to brief our father, the political leader of our state and the South-South, Chief Clark. We are saying we will not allow any imposition of a candidate on PDP.
” Suffice it to say the issue is not about Obuh, but we are also resolutely saying Obuh is not a card carrying member of PDP.
“It will be an illegality if Obuh says he is a member because he resigned only two and a half months ago and as such we insist, as a people, that he is not a member and we do not agree to anything called imposition of any candidate in the PDP for governorship.”
He said because of President Jonathan’s declaration on Tuesday and based on the advice from Chief Clark, the protesting aspirants had shifted the meeting to “Abuja where we are going to issue a proper communiqué after a press conference on Tuesday.”
