LAGOS JULY 23RD (URHOBOTODAY)-The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) screening committee on validity of documents to contest for the forth coming Delta State local government election has reportedly drilled two Councillorship aspirants, Richard Ighere and Braimor Mayor from Ward 15, Otefe, the home base of former Delta State Governor, Chief James Ibori on Tuesday 15th July, 2015 over alleged scandal of primary six testimonials and non availability of primary school certificate respectively.
A dependable source from PDP Delta Central Senatorial District office, Airport road, Warri, Uvwie Local Government Area, Delta State disclosed that Richard Ighere and Braimor Mayor were allegedly grilled for over four hours by the screening committee before they were eventually cleared due to alleged intervention of some of the party stakeholders from their ward.
He maintained that during the screening exercise the contestants could not present their primary six certificates but presented senior school certificates noting that after much ado they were cleared awaiting the final decision of the State Screening committee who will place final seal on their authenticity whether they would participate in the party primary election scheduled to hold next month.
Our source further alleged that the names in the primary six testimonial of Richard Ighere were different from the names he in the party form for the contest of councillorship election..
Our source confided on condition of anonymity that both aspirants were cleared following the pressure from some political stakeholders from their ward who pleaded for them to be cleared, arguing it is the duty of the state screening committee to disqualify them if they could not present their primary certificates before the state screening committee for opposition party not to take advantage of the mess.
