Delta Central Senatorial Primaries Election Tears DPP Apart as Gbinijie Promises Hell, Fire

LAGOS SEPTEMBER 28TH (URHOBOTODAY)-The Democratic Peoples Party (DPP) in Delta State may well be going down the rumble as there are already cracks in the wall following the party’s primaries election for the Delta Central Senatorial bye election coming up on 12th October 2013. The election which produced Ede Dafinone as its flag bearer has been rejected by fellow contestants and stakeholders.
One of such who disagree with the conduct of the primaries is former House of Representatives member, Napoleon Gbinijie, who contested alongside Ede.

In a statement sent to elombal.com, Gbinijie noted that prior to the primaries, the party leadership promised all the candidates that there was going to be a free and transparent election, but the party has failed to keep the promise.
“To us at Gbinije Campaign Organisation (GCO), we felt the party was only trying to fulfill its promise of conducting a free and fair election by enlarging the delegate list, but little did we know that the Tony Ezeagwu- led Delta State Chapter of the DPP was only riding roughshod on the intelligence of the aspirants”, the statement read.
He stated that the delegates list used on the Election Day were fake and that a new list was concocted by the leadership ostensibly to favour a particular candidate, who they say “suffers dearth of acceptance by the people of the Delta Central Senatorial District”.
According to Gbinijie, on the day of accreditation, unknown faces were brought in as delegates while the names of the original delegates were expunged. He expressed his refusal of the result, saying that it was an orchestra of deceit, fraught with gross manipulation by one man who felt he is the DPP and must call the shot at all times, without minding how the party members feel.
“Our people must be liberated from the scourge of dictatorship and mental slavery, brought about by one man show in the name DPP. We cannot afford to surrender our people via sham party primaries to another poor representation in the Upper Legislative Chambers of the National Assembly, by fielding a neophyte whose aspiration is to make wealth using the numerical strength of our people”, he submitted.
