Delta Assembly: Youths Protest against Imposition of Ibori’s Daughter

LAGOS SEPTEMBER 18TH (URHOBOTODAY)-Oghareki youths in Ethiope-West Local Government Area of Delta State stormed the palace of Ovie of Oghara Kingdom, HRM Noble Eshemitan in hundreds protesting against the imposition of former governor of Delta State, Chief James Ibori’s daughter, Miss Erhitake Ibori as member representing Ethiope-West LGA Constituency in Delta State House of Assembly.
The protest took place when Erhitake who is the biological daughter of Ibori went to the monarch’s palace to intimate him of her intention to represent the constituency in Delta State House of Assembly in 2015 and also to seek for his royal blessing.

The protesting youths who were mainly from Oghareki axis protested to the palace of the Monarch and the local government council, carrying placards of various inscriptions calling on all authorities concerned to wade into the situation to allow the normal zoning/gentle man agreement come to play, noting that Ogharefe axis where Ibori’s daughter hailed from had produced the chairmanship candidate of the party and it is the turn of Oghareki to produce member of House of Assembly.
The Ovie of Oghara kingdom, HRM Noble Oyibo Eshemitan sues for peace among the political class, pleading that he would summon all the politicians in the kingdom to his palace on the need to play the game by the rules.
On the issue of the acid test that was given to him by the protesting youths, the monarch who explained that although he is not a politician but a traditional ruler, however, noted that he could only advise politicians against anything that would cause breach of peace in his kingdom.
The Monarch further explained that any aspirant can come to his palace for royal blessing, describing all the aspirants as his children hence the need to pray for all that come to his palace for prayers.
He thanked Erhitake Ibori for deeming it fit to come to him for his royal blessing, just as he described the House of Assembly hopeful as a daughter whom he is well pleased. He prayed that Ibori’s aspiration comes to fulfillment as it would be in the interest of all, because of
the solid foundation of her father, Chief James Ibori.
Earlier during the consultation, Miss Ibori told the Monarch that she had invested massively towards helping the less privileged in the local government through provision of free health
care center through her NGO, ‘Star light Hope initiatives’.
The House of Assembly hopeful explained that in other to provide more for her people in the local government, hence the need to contest the position of the member representing Ethiope West local government in the Delta state House of Assembly in Asaba
The visit of Erhitake Ibori to the Palace witnessed the gathering of the political big whigs in the local government especially from Ogharefe axis which include former commissioner for special
duties during Chief James Ibori tenure, Chief Champion Kpeteghe, Chief Dr.Henry Ofa, DESOPADEC commissioner, Solomon Golley, PDP Chairmanship aspirant, Chiefs, former and serving councilors, amongst others.
