Corruption: Ex-Militants Call on EFCC to Investigate Amnesty Office

Kingsley Kuku

LAGOS JUNE 24TH (URHOBOTODAY) No fewer than 100 former militants in the second phase of the Presidential Amnesty Programme have called on Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to investigate the Amnesty Office headed by Mr. Kingsley Kuku.
The former agitators alleged that the amnesty committee headed by Kuku was short-changing them, adding that they had not been paid their allowances/arrears after their disarmament and one week training/orientation programme in Akodo, Lagos State since December, 2011.

In a statement by Timinepre Agbeyei, Sele Mezeh and Bello Akpotu, Chairman, Secretary and Public Relations Officer respectively, they accused Kuku of short-changing them of their monthly stipends and called for his removal without delay. They also passed a vote of no confidence on him.
“We appeal to EFCC to beam its search light on the amnesty office to unearth the fraudulent activities that has been on-going since he (Kuku) has turned the office into a political arena.”
They appealed to President Goodluck Jonathan to intervene in their plight urgently to sustain the peace in the region.
