LAGOS NOVEMBER 9TH (URHOBOTODAY) – President Muhammadu Buhari has fired Mr. Ibrahim Lamorde as Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Larmorde, who was at the presidential villa on Monday evening, was directed to handover to the most senior personnel at the commission, according to a presidency source.

No reason was given for his removal.
Lamorde was appointed in 2011 by former President Goodluck Jonathan. he succeeded former Chairman, Mrs. Farida Waziri.
Allegations of misappropriating EFCC funds had dogged Lamorde, prompting a Senate investigation.
A petitioner had alleged that he diverted at least N1 trillion recovered from the former Bayelsa governor, Mr. Diepreye Alamieyeseigha and other politicians.
Mr. Wilson Uwajaren, EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, said that Lamorde had requested to appear before the Senate committee investigating the allegations at an appropriate date. At as the time of writing this report he was yet to appear before the senate committee.
