Clark Advises Son on Good Governance, Commends Funkekeme for Delivering Burutu LGA to PDP(PHOTOS)

LAGOS NOVEMBER 3RD (URHOBOTODAY)-Elder Statesman and Ijaw Leader, Chief Edwin Clark has advised his son, the newly elected Burutu Local Government Coucil Chairman , Chief Ebikeme Clark to do what he Clark believes in by providing good governance to the people and ensure that he writes his names in gold on the platform of Burutu Council political history.

The elder statesman who was elated in his son’s victory at the just concluded council polls in Delta State commended Delta State Commissioner for Works, Hon Solomon Funkekeme for spending his time , money and resources to ensure that PDP Chairman and Councillos were delivered in Burutu LGA.

Advising Ebikeme on the need to exhibit good quality of leadership as Burutu Council Chairman during a party organized to celebrate Ebikeme Clark’s victory at the council polls in his home town Kiagbodo, Delta State, Clark said as the new Burutu Council Chairman, Ebikeme Clark should ensure that infrastructures were refurbished, primary school teachers received their salaries as at when due, health services were refurbished, toilet facilities and other social amenties which are the duties of the Council to the people were provided, adding that it is when he provides the necessary services in the council that people would say he had rendered service to them.

Hear him, “I am advising you as my son to do what your father believe in. That is provision of service to the nation. Primary education is the responsibility of the local government. As the new Chairman make sure that infrastructures are refurbished, teachers received their salaries as at when due, health services are refurbished, toilet facilities are provided .. It is when you do this that people will say you have rendered service to them.

Enjoining the new Burutu Council Chairman to work together with Delta State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan at the state level and the Councilors at the local government level, the Octogenarian advised, “The best thing for you to do is to develop your council so that posterity will judge you. But if you hold money to yourself and you did not develop the council, God will not forgive you and I will not forgive you. If you take care of the council area, God will take care of you. Nobody say you should not benefit. But do not benefit at the expense of the people.”

Pa Clark frowned at a situation whereby Burutu local government council chairman and his councillorship stay in Warri, Ughelli and other areas living the council jobs unattended to, saying,” They must live in the council headquarters from Monday to Friday. If they want to go to Warri or other areas in the working days it must be for the business of the Council. A situation whereby the Chairman and his councilors live outside the headquarters and only go to Burutu to collect allocation and share it among themselves will not be allowed.”

Clark who pointed out that it is not business as usual in the Council, argued that the Council money is not meant to be shared by Councilors or party people, just as he added that they are meant for the development of the council.
Clark expressed gratitude to all the PDP elders in Burutu LGA, extending his sincere gratitude to Hon Solomon Funkekeme for spending his time, money and resources to ensure that PDP Chairman and Councilors were delivered in Burutu LGA.

Hear him, “At this stage, I will use this opportunity to thank all the PDP elders in Burutu LGA. My thanks go mostly to Chief Solomon Funkekemi for spending his time, his money and resources to ensure that PDP Chairman and Councilors were delivered in Burutu LGA.
Giving a vote of thanks, Hon Solomon Funkekeme who thanked PDP members for the success the party achieved in Burutu LGA in the just concluded LGA election, however pointed out that the era of demanding for free money in the council is over hence they must key to the advice of Pa Clark.

He advised contractors to execute their jobs effectively and they would be paid accordingly, just as he assured that they should not exact undue pressure on the Council.
Hear him, “It gives me joy to be here today to express our thanks and gratitude to our Daddy who in the first place provided the umbrella for us to be here. We thank the security forces, Burutu people, our party men and women for the success we have achieved. The era of demanding for free money in the council is over. If you are a contractor, do your work well and you will be paid. We must key into the advise of our daddy.”
