Stop Abusing Jonathan, Onuesoke Warns Critics
LAGOS FEBRUARY 23RD (URHOBOTODAY)-Delta State Peoples Democratic Party governorship aspirant in 2011 general election, Chief Sunny Onuesoke has warned critics to desist from abusing President Goodluck Jonathan, adding that despite the names dropping, the President had performed beyond all reasonable doubt.
Onuesoke who handed over the warning while addressing a group of urhobos in ajegule in Lagos at the weekend, said critics must stop abusing the personality of President Jonathan because it is undemocratic, uncivilised and immature for anyone to point fingers and abuse Mr. President as if they were mates.
He pointed out that it is wrong for anyone to make derogatory comments to spite Mr. President to score cheap political points, stressing that such act cannot happen in developed countries like America, France, Britain and Germany among others.
“Whether we like it or not Jonathan as the sitting President of Nigeria is the symbol of the country. Abusing and calling Jonathan all sorts of names will not take us anywhere. Rather we are rubbishing ourselves before those in other parts of the world. Rather than washing our dirty linens in the public, I will counsel that we criticise objective instead of abuse,” Onuesoke cautioned.
“There is no name that President Jonathan has not been called? Clueless, promoter of corruption, indecisive and the more recent one that he never deserves to attach doctor in front of his name because he didn’t finish his PhD.
“Politics apart, the questions are; does the president actually deserve all these negative description of his person? Is he really as clueless as he has been described or is this name-calling due to the present political situation?” Onuesoke queried.
The PDP stalwart pointed out that In spite of all this, the Nigerian economy is today the largest in Africa, a position which South Africa had always held, adding that Nigerian GDP has grown to $503billion compared with South Africa’s $350 billion.
He explained that CNN in its analysis also said Nigeria is a country to watch in 2015 as it would be one of the fastest growing economies in the world with 7 percent growth rate after China with 7.3 and Qatar with 7.1 percent growth rates respectively.
Onuesoke affirmed that despite the name dropping there are development in agricultural, electricity, transport, education sectors, infrastructural development and creation of employment.
“Going with the aforementioned scenario, can we say the Jonathan administration is clueless and does not know what it is doing or has not made any impact? I am one of the first to agree with anybody that Nigeria is not yet where it should be, but it would be ungodly to put all the blames of this nation’s woes on this administration,” Onuesoke stated.
