LAGOS JUNE 8TH (URHOBOTODAY)-A security Expert, Charles Adimabua has commended the Ilasa Police Division, along Mile 2-Oshodi Express Road, Lagos for winning the war against crime and cultism in the area.
Adimabua a resident of Ilasa, said for the last four months, crime rate has reduced drastically in the area.
He affirmed that violent crimes and cultism have held sway in the area until Woman Superintendent of Police, Oriyomi Oluwasanmi was posted to the area as Divisional Police Officer (DPO)

“I live in Calabar, but my family lives in Ilasa, so I pay frequent Lagos. As a private security Expert, I have been taking crime statistics in Ilasa and with the information available to my disposal, crime rate is almost on zero level in Ilasa. I was told that the Commissioner of Police Mr. Fatai Owoseni who discovered that Ilasa needed a dogged crime fighter, brought in a woman Divisional Police Officer who has been doing very well. I have been observing the woman, she leads patrol at night and she has sent armed robbers, cultists and touts parking from the area.
“Before the coming of the woman DPO, crime rate was at an embarrassing state. We were living in absolute fear. When the CP brought in the woman, I was one of those who kicked against a woman DPO, but I am surprised with what I am seeing. This woman has performed more than men DPO’s.
“Ilasah is known for notoriety in armed robbery and cultism, but this woman and her officers have arrested many of them and chased others away. The bad spot on the Oshodi Express road, Barlet Bus stop and Mechanic Bus-stops were haven for criminals, especially traffic robbers, but during rush hours, you would see the DPO and her patrol team on ground, making sure that motorists and passersby are not molested. There used to be activities of street urchins (Area boys) extorting truck drivers, but today, that culture has been eliminated.
“Before her coming, we used to sleep with our one eye closed because of sporadic gunshots by armed robbers or rival cult groups. Today, we can now sleep with our eyes closed. I used to scared worrying for my family, which was why I was frequenting Lagos every two week, but now that there is sanity in Ilasah, I can stay one month before visiting Lagos. But I am urging him to maintain the tempo because we would not fail to criticize her if crime increases.
“I learnt that the woman has given face-lift to the Divisional headquarters office which was like dust bin before she took over, I want to thank the Cp for bringing the woman crime buster to Ilasah. I remember that whenever I tell my friends that I live in Ilasah, they would be surprised how I managed to cope in the midst of criminals. But today, I can beat my chest and say unequivocally that Ilasah is peaceful.
“I want to advise other DPOs in the state to emulate the woman DPO who has done well in crime fighting and has brought pride to the Police. If other officers are as dedicated as the Ilasah DPO, crime rate will be in zero level in the state. With the Security Trust fund, the state government has been assisting the force with logistics to fight the war on criminality”.
Several months ago before the woman DPO took over, the killing of a man in Ilasah had sparked off crisis as Social and commercial activities were grounded when suspected cultists invaded a street in the area.
The pandemonium broke out after four men, dressed in black apparel and armed with dangerous weapons, including guns, stormed number 8, Tanimowo street.
The men in black were said to be looking for, a 29 year-old father of three identified as Biodun Fadipe, popularly known as ‘pepper’ in the area.
The suspected cultists were said to have fired sporadically, causing people to scamper for safety then, but that scenario has now become a thing of the past, The Guardian gathered.
