Speaking to group of journalists in Warri, Delta State, after the swearing in of Dr. Supo Ayokunle as new CAN President, Edijala stressed that Papa Ayo Oritsejafor has given the body of Christ in Nigeria a selfless, word based leadership, high moral value, integrity, wisdom from above, vigor and an inherent drive for unity in the body of Christ in Nigeria.
According to him, Papa Ayo’s achievement as the first Pentecostal CAN President in a very vicious political, social and economical disposition of Nigeria is worth commendation from all and sundry.
Edijala who said he would stand with Oritsejafor come rain or shine, maintained that the outgoing CAN President’s courage, charisma and divine boldness has given Christians like him hope, adding that his activities as CAN President had indeed shown him as a father and leader over Christians.
“As a human, you were not above mistakes, but the Grace was more than sufficient in the face of unfounded and lucifer induced criticisms. I love you Papa. Keep the good work of faith burning,” Edijala advised him, just as he pointed out that Oritsejafor fought a good fight within the laws of God and of the land to reposition Christianity in Nigeria.
He noted that as a good Christian leader, despite being antagonized by his foes who equally used some senseless Christians to attack him, Oritsejafor stood his ground and ensured that all in all, his tenure was a success.
He prayed for God to bless Oritsejafor, adding that God should open the eyes of those Christians to see the reality of his leadership qualities.
Edijala is quoted saying that, it is unfortunate that some Christians has failed to understand Oritsejafor, who wore a big shoe of leadership and has given his best to move the Church of Christ forward.
He advised that even though Papa Ayo Oritsejafor has handed over the mantle of leadership to Dr Supo Ayokunle of the Baptist convention as the new CAN President, he remain a Prophet in the land and should never be weary in interceding for this nation as the nation of Nigeria is passing through a very difficult phase whereby economic recession is imminent.
“I want to use this opportunity to call on all Christians in Nigeria to uphold the new CAN president with unflinching support as well as praying fervently for him like Aron and Hur lifted up the hands of Moses in battle.
“ As the President, hell is already machinating devices which every Christian should not be ignorant of. In exodus 17:12 Aron and Hur helped the weary hands of Moses from coming down for Israel not to lose the battle. The new CAN president need all of us Christians and not Critics.
“Once more, I congratulate Papa Ayo Oritsejafor on his successful two tenure as President PFN and two tenure as CAN President. We your children in Nigeria and abroad is proud of you,” He stated.
