LAGOS JUNE 29TH (URHOBOTODAY)-The wife of Mr Michael Diden, member representing Warri North constituency in Delta State House of Assembly, Mrs Cynthia Diden, was kidnapped on Sunday, in Warri, Delta State, a family source told Advocate in confidence.
The source who pleaded anonymity stated that kidnappers had contacted the family and demanded for N500million as ransom, but later came down to N200m as at this morning.
The source also stated that though the circumstance leading to the kidnapped of Mrs Diden who he said resides at Abuja is not clear, the family and the security agencies are working round the clock to ensure that she is free unhurt.
Mr Diden also known as Ejele, lost one of his wives and was buried over the weekend in Sapele, according to source is making frantic effort to effect the release of his wife.
It would be recalled that in 2009 his eldest wife, Mrs. Mary Diden, a Special Adviser to the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, on women mobilization, was also kidnapped in Sapele, but was later rescued with no ransom paid after about a week in the kidnappers den.
When one of our correspondents visited the Sapele home of Mr. Diden, some women were seen in a prayer section, praying for the quick release of Mrs. Cynthia Diden from her captors.
Though nobody was willing to speak to our reporter and effort made to speak to the lawmaker who is a close confident of the state governor was unsuccessful, our report gathered that the state government has deployed its security architecture to ensure that Mrs. Diden is set free.
Attempt also to confirm the incident with the Police force PRO also failed as at the time of filing this report, but a senior police officer in Sapele who spoke to us in confidence confirms the report.
