LAGOS NOVEMBER 6TH (URHOBOTODAY)-Following the suspension of Judges indicted of corruption, Delta State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chieftain, Chief Sunny Onuesoke has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to equally suspend Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi and Ministry of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu over allegation of bribing of judges.
He said the government that claims anti corruption war all over the place should use the suspension of the Ministers as example of his anti corruption war to the world.
Onuesoke who made the call in Kaduna, Kaduna state said it is disgusting that APC government that calls itself anti corruption government have allowed Amaechi and Onu indicted of bribing Judges to remain on their sits despite the monumental allegation by the judges.
He pointed out that in order to allow for a fair and independent investigation, it is incumbent on President Muhammadu Buhari to ask the indicted Ministers to step aside pending the conclusion of investigations into the allegation, adding that the judiciary has set a very good example in its quest to fight corruption for taking the bold steps of suspending the indicted judges.
Onuesoke argued that the presidency should take the honourable and right path by emulating the action of the judiciary, by suspending the two ministers while investigations are on going.
“Why is it so hard for Nigerian politicians to be honourable- Amaechi and Onu .all have allegations of bribery over their heads yet they puff around doing “business as usual” because they know there are no consequences for their criminal activities. I will want to believe that there is truly is no fight against corruption, just elimination of perceived political enemies in preparation for 2019,” Onuesoke noted.
He pointed out that Buhari’s government that claims anti corruption war all over the places should have use the suspension of the two Ministers as an example of fighting true corruption to the whole world, adding that not suspended the Ministers means they are above the law.
