Onuesoke Commends Jonathan Speedy Containment of Ebola Outbreak

LAGOS SEPTEMBER 7TH (URHOBOTODAY)-Delta State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship aspirant in 2007 general election, Chief Sunny Onuesoke has commended President Goodluck Jonathan speedy response to the containment of ebola virus outbreak in the country.
Onuesoke who made the commendation while speaking to newsmen at Muritala Mohammed Airport Ikeja, Lagos on arrival from Switzerland where he attended Network for Good Governance (N4GG) conference said the swift response of the Jonathan’s administration in containing the spread of the disease was not only commendable but worthy of emulation by neighbouring African countries, adding that his action had proved critics of his administration who had predicted massive spread of the virus wrong.

The N4GG Country Director noted that the commendation of Jonathan by United Nations, the World Health Organisation and even the United States Government had demonstrated the fact that the his administration had taking seriously the safety and well-being of Nigerian citizens.
He said the approval of N1.9billion to fight the deadly virus in the country was a worthy and well thought out decision by President Goodluck Jonathan as such will equip professionals to help Nigerians counter the challenges posed by the deadly virus.
Onuesoke maintained that the speed at which the Federal Ministries of Information and Health Ministers responded to the instruction of Jonathan to the health impasse in the country showed that the government had seasoned and competent bosses to handle any issue in the country.
“I was impressed with the speedy response of the government to the health challenge currently being faced in the country and in the globe. The handling of the issue was real un-Africa. I can say the action of Jonathan had shown that we are fast developing and growing very fast to meet the basic practice of showing concerns to issues that affect our subjects and in place of less laser affairs to issues affecting the common people,” he said.
He called on various bodies in the country like the National Orientation Agency, Red Cross Societies, NGOs, and Health workers to engage in massive health awareness, especially in the highly populated cities and rural areas, so as to sensitize on the need to prevent the spread of the virus.
