Delta: JTF Denies Looting Kokori Community, Appeals for Cooperation
LAGOS DECEMBER 10TH (URHOBOTODAY) -Residents of Kokori in Delta state have been called upon to cooperate with the troops of Sector 1, Operation Pulo Shield deployed to the community in ongoing operations to restore normalcy to their land.
Commander, 3 Battalion Warri, Lieutenant Colonel Ifeanyi Otu made the appeal when he took journalists on a tour of the community that has been deserted and turned into a ghost town.
According to Lt.Col Otu, suspected kidnappers and militants loyal to Mr. Kelvin Ibruvwe who were protesting his arrest barricaded the roads, burnt vehicles, and looted properties and fired at the troops from their shrine as against allegations that soldiers destroyed and looted properties in the town.
He said efforts to encourage residents to come back has failed due to fear of a reprisal from suspected militants for supposed betrayal. Lt.Col Otu, added that the command has the backing of the state government to maintain law and order and to restore normalcy in Kokori.
